Dark Forest Chandlery started with a desire to live a cleaner, simpler life, rooted in ancestral routines. We believe your skin deserves better than the harsh, mass-produced products lining most shelves. That's why we handcraft our soap, body butter, and beard balm in small batches, using the good, natural ingredients God gave us.

Why tallow?

Because it worked for a few thousand years before anyone invented the detergent bar. Long before commercial skincare, households rendered tallow and made their own soap; it cleans without stripping, and it carries fatty acids close to the ones your own skin makes. We went back to that recipe on purpose: saponified tallow and good oils, cured the slow way, nothing padding the bar. Our great-grandparents didn't need a twelve-step routine, and neither do you.

Made in the Natural State

They call Arkansas the Natural State, and we take the nickname seriously. Every bar, balm, and butter is handcrafted in small batches in Benton, central Arkansas, from simple, natural ingredients: tallow, good oils, rich butters, and honey. Simple living fits this place, and so does making things by hand.

The family behind the forest

Dark Forest Chandlery is a family operation, husband and wife, with recipes tested at our own sinks, labels debated at the dinner table, and three kids who know more about saponification than most adults. When you buy a bar, you're buying it from us, not a warehouse.
